At the end of those five sections there is a timed writing sample which is not scored, but sent to law schools along with your LSAT score. The LSAT, at its core, is a test of your ability to manipulate language in a logical way within a limited amount of time. It is a test of skill, not content.

Read for the most important ideas within the passage, and sum up the gist of each paragraph in the passage. Be sure to underline or highlight. Arguments on the LSAT must be accepted at face value.
Do not argue with the argument. Whatever the author of the statement says is true; take it for truth within that question. You can take LSAT Writing at your convenience, as early as eight 8 days prior to the date of your multiple-choice exam. Your LSAT Writing prompt will present a decision problem, and you will be asked to choose between two positions or courses of action and defend your choice. Law schools will examine the reasoning, clarity, organization, language usage, and writing mechanics you display in your sample.

You will probably be better at some sections than others, so it is a good idea to take a practice LSAT , mimicking test-day conditions as closely as possible. As you review your answers, you will be able to identify any weaknesses and begin working on them to improve your overall score. These courses can either be online or in-person, and will help to guide your focus as you study, either through direct instruction or comprehensive study materials, such as videos. Sometimes prep courses use a combination of these techniques to assist you in bringing up your score.
